This is a pair of Qing Xianfeng period famille rose bowls with flower and bird motifs. Dating to the Xianfeng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1851–1861), a period classified as the late Qing Dynasty, these bowls are tangible examples of civilian-used famille rose porcelain from the late Qing: they reflect the craftsmanship and aesthetic tastes of folk daily-use porcelain during the Xianfeng period (despite the porcelain-making industry being disrupted by wars, high-quality folk kiln wares still preserved traditional styles).They also serve as carriers of late Qing auspicious motifs: designs such as "magpies perching on plum blossoms" embody the common people's spiritual yearning for "joy and tranquility" amid the backdrop of war.

寓意:"喜鹊登梅”:象征"喜上眉梢”,是清代晚期流行的吉祥纹饰;

梅花:代表“坚韧、报春”,搭配花鸟传递“喜庆、生机”的寓意;

Theme: the bowls are decorated with flower and bird motifs (the left bowl features "magpies perching on plum blossoms," while the right one displays "plum blossom patterns").

Meanings: "magpies perching on plum blossoms" symbolizes "joy arriving at the brows" (a homophonic auspicious meaning of "happy events approaching"), a popular auspicious motif in the late Qing Dynasty.

Plum blossoms: symbolize "perseverance and the arrival of spring." Paired with birds and other flowers, they convey auspicious meanings of "joy and vitality."

Style: Xianfeng flower and bird motifs tend to be "realistic and elegant" — featuring concise lines and vivid depictions of birds and flowers, which align with the "simplicity and auspiciousness" aesthetic favored by folk society in the late Qing Dynasty.
