Blue-and-white gourd-shaped ewer with figure patterns, Tianshun reign of the Ming Dynasty.Porcelain vessels of the Tianshun reign were dominated by rough and simple bowls and plates, making the gourd-shaped ewer extremely rare. Its body was made of "grayish-white clay" (the body quality was relatively coarse, not as fine as that of Qing Dynasty porcelain). The glaze surface had a faint bluish tint in white, with a thin glaze layer and technical flaws such as "glaze shrinkage" and "craze lines".The blue-and-white gourd-shaped ewer of the Tianshun reign boasts national treasure-level historical value: it is a unique-grade specimen of porcelain craftsmanship from the Ming Dynasty's "blank period", and finely crafted ewers of the Tianshun reign are nearly extinct in existence, serving as a scarce representative of mid-Ming porcelain-making standards. It also stands as evidence of vessel shape innovation during the blank period.
Decoration: Blue-and-white figure patterns.
The figure patterns of the Tianshun reign were simple and bold, with exaggerated proportions and freehand lines (distinguished from the exquisite and neat style of the Qing Dynasty), embodying the aesthetic of "valuing simplicity and emphasizing freehand brushwork" during the blank period.
