This is a yellow-ground blue-and-white dragon-patterned bowl from the Zhengde period of the Ming Dynasty. Zhengde porcelain is renowned for its "coarse and heavy body, and grayish-blue underglaze blue color." Most Zhengde bowls feature an open mouth, deep belly, and thick ring foot, with their bodies made of "grayish-white porcelain clay" (the body quality is relatively coarse, not as fine as that of the Qing Dynasty). The yellow glaze base of the bowl shows a "dull yellow" hue (the yellow glaze craftsmanship of the Zhengde period was not as uniform as that of the Qing Dynasty), and there is "orange peel effect / fire-red stain" on the mouth rim and ring foot.

The Zhengde yellow-ground blue-and-white dragon-patterned bowl boasts national treasure-level historical value: it is a unique specimen of Zhengde yellow-ground blue-and-white craftsmanship.
